Military stool
The Military stool by Gerrit Rietveld is part of the military furniture series Rietveld designed in 1923 for the Catholic Military Home in Utrecht. In this series, he used bolts and nuts for joints instead of wooden dowels for the first time. As a result, the military furniture is very sturdy. The furniture, characterised by the use of square sleepers, is finished in various colours, with the ends painted in contrasting colours.
Besides the Military stool, there is also the Military chair and the Military table. The Military series is available in various colour schemes. The seats of the stools are made of oak veneered plywood finished in whitewash, white, black or red. The base ends of the undercarriage are finished with a contrasting colour and are available in white, black, red, or grey.
